Kind of Material: radio
Title: Eikaiwa Nyuumon

Comments:
I learned the saying "You could say that." I tried to shadow when I listed to the radio. I could catch a half of the dialog, but shadowing was difficult. I could shadow about four words but I couldn't shadow long sentences. I thought shadowing is important. Because listening is unexpectedly easy, but I can't do shadowing for a half of the words I listened to. Therefore I think if I can do shadowing, my English ability will be developed.

Title: Bird Watching

Comments: I tried parallel reading. I particularly concentrated on the reduced pronunciation, for I learned that reduced pronunciation is standard everyday English from today's class. I was so happy! When I read an English sentence aloud, I want to try the reduced pronunciation. I have usually thought personal pronouns like "he, him, her, his," and words like "have, has, had" were difficult to find. I usually miss catching such words. Now since I know about reduced pronunciation, I can catch and understand what is reduced in a phrase.

. . . the lesson. First I listened to the conversation. Next I listened to the words and the idioms and wrote them down at once. Finally I listened to the conversation and wrote it down at once. 80% of my listening was correct!

Time Finished: -7:15
Kind of Material: Carpenters
Title:

Comments: When I listened to this song the third time, I noticed a rhyme with this song. For example, "me" and "see," -- "clear" and "here" -- "name" and "same," etc. I can also catch more words than before as I listen to this song again and again. I think it is good to listen again and again because each time I notice something new.

Time started: 6:45
Time Finished: - 7:30
Kind of Material: Television
Title: Casino's

Comments: When I listened to the word "marvel," I thought that it must mean good. The other thing I thought was that it means something like "excitement" because in the tape it said that there were "beautiful dressed people" or "gambling at all the crowded tables" and so on.

When I listened to the word, "fumble," it was easy for me to guess the meaning. It was because the sentence - "in her worn purse to see whether she had any money" was next to it. Because I could understand the meaning of this sentence, I could guess the meaning of "fumble." I guess that the meaning of "fumble" is "to look for."

I looked the words up in the dictionary and I checked the meanings of marvel and fumble. In Japanese the meaning for "marvel" is "驚嘆すべきもの," and the meaning of "fumble" is "手探りする."
